I'm loving this software so far and would recommend to anyone who wants to create flash styled animations on a budget. There's so much depth and I've only just scratched the surface. I could literally be here all day listing everything about Anime Studio. The bone rigging (which I've used for Mario in the video) works well and is quite fun, it's just like making a virtual puppet.
Layers have their own effects such as opacity, blur, shadow etc. Image files can be imported and manipulated for animations. If you're like me though you'll just build virtual Jenga towers and make them collapse for your own simple amusement :D The physics engine can be a real time saver to people who want to animate things such as rain, snow, falling objects, smoke, water etc. Once again, the Drawing isn't straightforward and requires practice. Vector tools are nice and allow you to create smooth looking characters and images. Rendering is good and I don't think it's actually crashed on me once yet! I usually output at 1080x1920 in QuickTime format and the picture looks pretty flawless. I've found masking works with no problem. I tend to visit LostMarbles for most of my Q&A'sīeing able to import adobe Photoshop files (all their individual layers) is a good feature and is very good if you want to do your art in Photoshop and then animate it in anime studio.
Fortunately the anime studio community are very nice and offer help and tutorials. I'll just list some main points:įirst thing, the general User Interface isn't straightforward and will take some time to understand. Of course there are a few niggles here and there but they're not enough to ruin the product. I find it does just about everything I could personally want out of an animating application.
